Ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic bathers to join our team and Apprentice under our Senior Groomer. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge about salon operations and dog bathing basics, a passion for working with animals, and a desire to learn essential skills in grooming. This position offers hands-on experience, an expert to learn under, and the opportunity to develop your knowledge in the field.
Duties
Bathing & Prep Work:
- Bathe dogs using appropriate shampoos and conditioners based on coat and skin type
- Dry dogs using towels, high-velocity dryers, and standing dryers (based on coat and temperament)
- Brush out tangles and loose fur
- Perform basic de-shedding and detangling
- Clean ears and trim nails safely and correctly
- Express anal glands when required or instructed
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization within the grooming salon
Grooming Support & Learning:
- Assist groomers with prepping dogs for haircuts (e.g., rough cuts, shaving paw pads, sanitary trims)
- Observe and learn grooming techniques and breed-specific styles
- Gradually practice grooming under supervision
- Take direction and apply feedback to improve grooming skills
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of grooming tools and workstations
- Participate in ongoing training and grooming education
Requirements
- A genuine interest in and passion for learning grooming techniques and breed-specific styles
- Prior experience or knowledge in dog bathing is required
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members
- Willingness to learn under an expert individual and follow instructions
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve standing for long hours, lifting or restraining animals.
